Exciting news, Trojans!
The Beeville Independent School District Police Department has officially launched a groundbreaking safety initiative that sets a new standard across the state of Texas. Effective April 15, 2025, BISD PD is now home to the first-ever Advanced Life Support (ALS) First Responder Organization established within a Texas school district.
This significant milestone is the result of nearly eight months of coordinated planning and collaboration among local, regional, and state partners. Spearheaded by Chief Art Gamez and Lead Paramedic Gena Guzman, the initiative involved partnerships with Dr. Joseph Larakers, M.D., a respected local physician serving as Medical Director for the program, as well as Angel Care Ambulance, and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
The process included needs assessments, extensive planning, and development of emergency care protocols and standard operating procedures. Following full support from the BISD Board of Trustees, the district submitted all necessary applications and completed a state inspection to achieve compliance and certification.
